Lessons to be learnt yet

LESSONS TO BE LEARNT YET

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.”
       -Albert Einstein.

Schools , hot-pot of honey  that helps to spread enough sweetness in your life.It teaches you how to handle pressure by giving you practical experience right from the age of licking lolly pops.It gives patience and resistance to you everytime you are forced to do a most hated work.Education in schools nowadays give you an oppurtunity to survive but not live a free-life of your own.

There are many things that they dont teach in schools, like how to love or care for somebody. They dont teach you how to become rich or poor.Neither they teach you how to know other’s mind nor about things to tell to someone who is dying. Finally they dont teach you anything worth knowing as human, but they give you instructions for how to be a Robo Sapiens instead of Homo Sapiens.

Survival is not just enough to live.He should live for himself and to give happiness to people around him, who love him, and  also whom he loves. Here are some of the expectations that a child as a student has from school along with his parents and teachers.

  • Teach good behaviour through good example
  • Make understand students what they are expected for.
  • Warn about consequences and help them to correct the mistakes.
  • Help them to gain confidence to set realistic and achievable goals.
  • Should report  parents about student performance periodically.

How are Parents expected to help their children?

It is often said that Parents are the first teachers for a child and home is where they get their initial schooling lessons. So parents play a vital role in the academics of their child. They can support by:

  • Not compelling them to study, study and study around the clock.
  • Being a great listener and solution finder of the problems/needs.
  • Correct the mistakes and behaviour/attitude follies.
  • Being a personal tutor available at all time.
  • Acting as great encourager and confidence booster.
  • Help being a good human being with essential cultural values for life.
  • Being a pressure reliever.
  • Keeping track record about his/her performance in school.
  • Providing periodical entertainment like arts, music, films, games, etc.

What do teachers expect from their students?

  • Students are expected to develop a sense of Responsibility towards his studies and goals.
  • They are necessarily to be Independent so as to handle any situations.
  • A child should be able to build up the attitude of Self-Management for his desires.
  • Self-Determination can be a key factor in building confidence and courage to explore.
  • Academic Success is mandatory in shaping the future for a good career.
  • Social Success leaves one as a well-positioned social being in the society.

How teachers can change student expectations?

  • Watch the interests of each child, as this varies with each child.
  • Listen and understand their motivation factors and goals along with their attitude towards you and fellow mates.
  • Engage by knowing and listening to their personal and individual interests.
  • Experiment by giving chance to odd behaviours as they may be a way to catch your attention.
  • Meet in order to spend time along with them by not being ‘teacher’ but for some non-academic activity.
  • Reach Out and know their skills outside school which need to be encouraged, motivated and supported.
  • Reflect yourself in a similar manner based on your school days and teachers and rate so as to become their favourite.

How to enjoy your school-life?

  • Be involved in your education

As an Indian i have often come across the phrase ‘vasudeva kutumbakam’ .So lets all try to work together as a family to nurture future generations. As students are blooming buds of tomorrow’s world we as parents, teachers and students ourselves need to build this monument stand upright among all others.
